Facebook Gets Patent for a System Providing Users with Error-Free Translation

The US company “Facebook” has obtained a patent, owned by an Indian company, for a system that allows Facebook, the leading social network, to provide high-quality error-free translation of texts to its users.

The company said, according to documents submitted for the patent, “Unlike traditional translation, the new system selects the translated text from a set of translations of phrases on its social network. The system identifies users who can translate based on information about their accounts. Translation will be made by users or members of the social network”.

The company further explained that the system will receive translated texts from members of Facebook, where it chooses the best text out of different translations through users’ voting on translation quality.

The new patent allows Facebook to provide error-free translations on its platform which sees an increasing level of interaction in various languages.
